1. the first is to try to dislodge the clogging, and there is a DIY I wrote (and added others' info to) in the Information Base forum. do a search in that forum on "blues" authored by me. 2. the other is to remove the dash and replace the heater core. Now that it is getting colder I noticed that my heater wasn't working very well. The problem was being caused by a large air bubble somewhere in the heater circuit. I know when the bubble was created. Back in September the clip holding the rear CTS cracked and consequently the sensor blew out of the motor. At that time I had a difficult time getting all the air out.
Step #3. Remove the passenger side panel. This is needed to expose a screw that holds the glove compartment, as well as give you access to the AC motor unit. There is a single screw that holds the panel. I believe it is a T20 screw. There is a "hook" on the inside of the panel, that slide in towards the engine.

Next I need to work on fuel supply. VW draws direct from the tank with a tube that doesn't go all the way to the bottom so you don't burn the tank empty with the heater. Some people mount a separate tank. Having wasted so much time and limited brain power on the heater firing I have not researched the best way for me and will need to purchase
